Soft Kirigami Composites for Form‐Finding of Fully Flexible Deployables
A new class of thin flexible structures are introduced that morph from flat into prescribed 3D shapes without an external stimulus such as mechanical loads or heat. To achieve control over the target shape, two different concepts are coupled: strain mismatch (inspired by biological growth) and kirigami cuts.

The steel plate shear wall (SPSW) coupled with steel side columns (SSCs) through steel coupling beams, or the SPSW–SSC coupled structural system, is a novel lateral force resisting system that introduces coupling mechanism to the isolated SPSW pier. To simplify the complex iteration of the conventional seismic design procedure and obtain the favorable ...

Design and Analysis of Composite Panels [PDF]
European aircraft industry demands for reduced development and operating costs, by 20% and 50% in the short and long term, respectively. Contributions to this aim are provided by the completed project POSICOSS (5thFP) and the running follow-up project ...

Interactive Buckling of Thin-Walled Beams with Open and Closed Cross-Sections
Influence of the interaction of nearly simultaneous buckling modes on the postbuckling behaviour of thin-walled beams with imperfections is studied. The investigation is concerned with thin-walled closed and open cross-section elastic beams under an ...

Analysis and design for the moderately deep postbuckling behavior of composite plates [PDF]
It is widely acknowledged that tracking the postbuckling response of structures made from thin plates can be problematical. Such difficulty is associated with highly nonlinear effects, including mode jumping, imperfection sensitivity, and their combined ...

In this paper, a ground‐based experimental system for solar array active vibration suppression has been established. Firstly, in order to establish an accurate model of the solar array, the solar array is regarded as a flexible cantilevered thin plate, and the corresponding dynamical equations are derived using the absolute nodal coordinate method.
