Dynamic buckling mode of an elastic bar
Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1990The conception of buckling relative initial imperfection is presented in this paper. According to Boulli-Euler beam equation, the dynamic buckling mode of an elastic bar under the homogeneous boundary conditions can be derived by applying the preferred mode analytical method.

The electromechanical response of silicon nanowires to buckling mode transitions
Nanotechnology, 2010Here we show how the electromechanical properties of silicon nanowires (NWs) are modified when they are subjected to extreme mechanical deformations (buckling and buckling mode transitions), such as those appearing in flexible devices. Flexible devices are prone to frequent dynamic stress variations, especially buckling, while the small size of NWs ...

Two Distinct Buckling Modes in Carbon Nanotube Bending
Nano Letters, 2006By using controlled SPM manipulation, carbon nanotubes have been continuously bent into a series of increasing angles, and two distinct buckling modes corresponding to "abrupt" and "gradual" buckle formation were observed through recording the height increment at the bend site during the loading process. Molecular dynamics simulation also found the two

Buckling Analysis of Tapered Continuous Columns by Using Modified Buckling Mode Shapes
Journal of Marine Science and Application, 2019Elastic critical buckling load of a column depends on various parameters, such as boundary conditions, material, and cross-section geometry. The main purpose of this work is to present a new method for investigating the buckling load of tapered columns subjected to axial force.

Initial Postbuckling With a Unique Buckling Mode
2013Here, we consider problems that belong to the category of Chap. 18, namely problems with Linear Prebuckling, but take a broader view in that we establish a procedure for investigating the initial behavior after buckling—the Postbuckling Behavior.

The localization of buckling modes in nearly periodic trusses
Computers & Structures, 1995The global buckling problem of nearly periodic trusses, including intermediate weak members and disordered panels, is considered. The possibility of local buckling or plastification of individual bars is neglected. The problem is solved numerically using a finite element program.

Buckling-Mode Number and Compressive-to-Tensile Strength Ratio of Buckling-Restrained Braces
2014Buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) are composed of a steel core, which resists axial force, and a buckling-restraining system. A carefully designed clearance, often filled with unbonding material, is placed between the steel core and restraining system to avoid force transfer between the two components.
