Buckling of Stressed and Pressurized Thin Films on Substrates

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2010
The buckling solutions for a stressed thin film deposited on a semi-infinite rigid substrate have been determined in the framework of the Föppl–von Karman’s theory of thin plates and the perturbed bifurcation theory when pressures are applied onto the lower and upper free surfaces of the buckled film.

FASOR — a program for stress, buckling and vibration of shells of revolution

Advances in Engineering Software (1978), 1981
FASOR (Field Analysis of Shells of Revolution) is a user-oriented code for the analysis of stiffened, laminated axisym-metric shells. Very general shell geometries are allowed in that the reference surface meridian may form a branched, multicircuit figure.

Local Buckling of Beams under Stress Gradient

Journal of the Structural Division, 1979
A study of local buckling of wide-flange and box section beams subjected to stress gradients due to transverse loading is presented. The resulting eigen matrices are solved using a search technique. Buckling coefficients for typical cases are presented. Results are compared with those used for customary design procedure.

Buckling Evaluation in Case of Complicated Stress Condition

2009
Probability analysis of buckling stresses in this study allows to present features of biaxial and triaxial stress condition compared to linear stress condition. Absolute characteristics of buckling in case of triaxial stress condition compared to linear stress condition are described in function with one maximum value. This study shows that biaxial and

Experimental Investigation of the Buckling of Plates with Residual Stresses

2009
LOCAL BUCKLING TESTS OF PLATE ELEMENTS IN SQUARE COLUMNS BUILD-UP BY WELDING ARE SUMMARIZED. THE EXPERIMENTS WERE CONDUCTED TO VERIFY THEORIES FOR THE ELASTIC AND ELASTIC- PLASTIC BUCKLING OF PLATES WITH EMPHASIS ON THE EFFECT OF RESIDUAL STRESS. ASTM A7 AND A514 STEELS WERE USED.

Buckling Stresses, Material Nonlinearity, and Beam Modeling

2018
Different concepts are introduced to increase the use of earlier presented results to other cross sections and other BC. The concepts of inertia radius, equivalent length and slenderness ratio are important for beam-columns.

Stress-relief buckles in the McFarland quarry, Ottawa

Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences, 1982
Six quarry-floor buckles in a west-end Ottawa bedrock quarry are described and a semi-quantitative estimate of the stress field is inferred from them. The maximum principal stress component is horizontal with an azimuth that is constrained to the northeast–southwest quadrants and has an upper limit that is of the order of a few tens of megapascals.
