A karst rather than periglacial origin for small enclosed depressions of the Landes Triangle, southwest France

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 6, May 2025.
The Landes Triangle is dotted with 2,400 + shallow depressions of unknown origin, that fall into two distinct groups in terms of morphology, distribution and geology. In the central and western parts of the region, the depressions are likely of aeolian origin, while a crypto‐karst origin is favoured elsewhere.

Towards a global understanding of tree mortality

Summary Rates of tree mortality are increasing globally, with implications for forests and climate. Yet, how and why these trends vary globally remain unknown. Developing a comprehensive assessment of global tree mortality will require systematically integrating data from ground‐based long‐term forest monitoring with large‐scale remote sensing.

GUBIC: The global urban biological invasions compendium for plants

By integrating multiple data sources, we compiled a Global Urban Biological Invasions Compendium (GUBIC) for vascular plants representing 553 urban centres from 61 countries across every continent except Antarctica. This database includes 8140 non‐native plant species from 253 families.
