TIME OF ERGER APPLICATION FOR BUDBREAK INDUCTION IN APPLE TREES
Acta Horticulturae, 2010More than 50% of the Southern Brazilian apple production is located in areas where chilling varies from 800 to 1.200 cold units by the North Carolina model, or from 400 to 600 hours of temperature below 7.2°C. This low chilling results in budbreak and blooming delay, which requires artificial budbreak induction.

BUDBREAK INDUCTION IN APPLE TREES BY ERGER AND CALCIUM NITRATE APPLICATION
Acta Horticulturae, 2010In mild winter climates, the budbreak promoters application is one of main management strategies used to decrease problems of insufficient winter chilling on temperate fruit trees. Despite of the high efficiency of some chemicals on budbreak induction, the high toxicity showed by these compounds is one problem related to its use.

Effect of Abscisic Acid on Budbreak and Transpiration in Woody Species
Nature, 1968WAREING et al.1–5 established that the naturally occurring plant growth inhibitor, abscisic acid6, is involved in the control of bud dormancy in the diffuse-porous deciduous tree species Acer pseudoplatanus L., Betula alba L. and Salix viminalis L. Exogenous abscisic acid delays bud-break in non-dormant cuttings and causes cessation of longitudinal ...

ERGER AND CALCIUM NITRATE CONCENTRATION FOR BUDBREAK INDUCTION IN APPLE TREES
Acta Horticulturae, 2010Apple trees grown in low chilling rest and break the dormancy later than those grown in colder areas. Low chilling shows symptoms such as low budbreak, which directly influences potential yield. Budbreak inductors are commercially used to overcome cold deficiency. Their effectiveness increases when at least 50% of the chilling requirement of a specific

Differences in Budbreak Between Shade-Grown and Open-Grown Oak Seedlings
Forest Science, 1976Abstract Northern red and scarlet oak seedlings were grown in pots for 3 years under a forest canopy or in an open field. In January 1974, half the seedlings in each group were outplanted under the canopy and the other half in the open. Those that had developed in the shade broke dormancy 9 days earlier than those that had developed in ...
