Record High Polarization at 2 V and Imprint‐Free Operation in Superlattice HfO2‐ZrO2 by Proper Tuning of Ferro and Antiferroelectricity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Low‐power ferroelectric capacitors, based on superlattice HfO2‐ZrO2 is reported. With proper tuning of ferro and antiferroelectricity, an imprint‐free high switchable polarization charge (2Pr of 76 µC/cm2) is obtained with 2MV/cm leading to linear analog weight update and non‐volatile retention, providing a design guideline for emerging non‐volatile ...

The Vortex: The Concentrated Racial Impact of Drug Imprisonment and the Characteristics of Punitive Counties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This report describes the relationship between drug admission rates and the structural and demographic characteristics of counties -- budgets and spending for law enforcement, unemployment rates, poverty rates, and the percentage of the population that ...

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

States Face Fiscal Crunch after 1990s Spending Surge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Across the nation, large budget gaps are forcing state governments to make tough policy choices. While some states are trying to control spending, others are turning to tax increases to balance their budgets.

Additively Manufactured Porous Ceramics as Tunable Dielectrics for Passive Temperature Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Porous ceramic lattices, 3D‐printed from a multicomponent oxide ink, are integrated with LC resonators for passive wireless temperature sensing. By tuning porosity, the dielectric properties and RF response are engineered to produce distinct resonant frequency shifts with temperature. The results establish a structure‐driven approach to customizing the

Optoelectronically Active GaAs/GeSn‐MQW/Ge Heterojunctions Created via Semiconductor Grafting

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Semiconductor Grafting enables a lattice‐mismatched GaAs/GeSn‐MQW/Ge heterojunction with engineered band offsets and optical field distribution. The enlarged conduction and valence band discontinuities govern asymmetric carrier transport, producing bias‐dependent dual‐mode photodetection from visible to near‐infrared wavelengths.

Effect of sulfate aerosol on tropospheric NOx and ozone budgets: Model simulations and TOPSE evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The distributions of NOx and O3 are analyzed during TOPSE (Tropospheric Ozone Production about the Spring Equinox). In this study these data are compared with the calculations of a global chemical/transport model (Model for OZone And Related chemical ...

A State‐Adaptive Koopman Control Framework for Real‐Time Deformable Tool Manipulation in Robotic Environmental Swabbing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.
