A search and study of the Cenchrus germplasm collection resulted in the identification of FS-391, a genotype from Vellakoil taluk of Coimbatore district. It has high green fodder yielding potential of 40 t/ha/yr under rainfed condition with higher DM and CP yield than C.ciliaris and C.glaucus Local.
