Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Cylindrical vector beams for rapid polarization-dependent measurements in atomic systems
We demonstrate the use of cylindrical vector beams - beams with spatially varying polarization - for detecting and preparing the spin of a warm rubidium vapor in a spatially dependent manner.

Quadratic behavior of fiber Bragg grating temperature coefficients [PDF]
We describe the characterization of the temperature and strain responses of fiber Bragg grating sensors by use of an interferometric interrogation technique to provide an absolute measurement of the grating wavelength. The fiber Bragg grating temperature

Optical buffering in phase-shifted fibre gratings
Optical buffering of sub-nanosecond pulses at 1.55 µm in fibre Bragg gratings with periodically-spaced p phase shifts is demonstrated. Delays up to 690 ps of 250 ps-duration optical pulses have been achieved in a 40 cm-long grating with 100 phase jumps.
