Feasibility of the optical fiber clock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We explore the feasibility of a compact high-precision Hg atomic clock based on a hollow core optical fiber. We evaluate the sensitivity of the $^1S_0$-$^3P_0$ clock transition in Hg and other divalent atoms to the fiber inner core surface at non-zero ...

A novel fiber delay line buffering architecture for optical packet switching

open access: greenGLOBECOM '03. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37489), 2004
Due to the lack of optical random access memory, optical fiber delay line (FDL) is currently the only way to implement optical buffering. Feed-forward and feedback are two kinds of FDL structures in optical buffering. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Effect of Calcium Fluoride Buffer on PdY deposited Optical Fiber Hydrogen Sensor

open access: goldIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract Optical fiber sensor having transducer layer PdY is highly sensitive to detect hydrogen. The main advantage of PdY is reducing the cracking effect in optical fiber hydrogen sensor having transducer thickness palladium. To analyze the optical fiber H2 sensor apply the modal approach.

An efficient method of all-optical buffering with ultra-small core photonic crystal fibers

open access: goldOptics Express, 2008
We propose a new method of all-optical buffering with ultra-small core photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) based on stimulated Brillouin scattering. The large refractive index contrast between the near-hollow cladding and the pure-silica core contributes to high nonlinearity of the PCF.

Thermodynamic and Kinetic Characterization of Colloidal Polymers of N-Isopropylacrylamide and Alkyl Acrylic Acids for Optical pH Sensing [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
Copolymers of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPA) and alkyl acrylic acids that swell and shrink in response to pH were prepared by dispersion polymerization at 35 °C using N-isopropylacrylamide (transduction monomer), methylenebisacrylamide (crosslinker), 2 ...

Dimensioning shared-per-node recirculating fiber delay line buffers in an optical packet switch [PDF]

open access: closedPerformance Evaluation, 2013
Optical buffering based on fiber delay lines (FDLs) has been proposed as a means for contention resolution in an optical packet switch. In this article, we propose a queuing model for feedback-type shared-per-node recirculating FDL optical buffers in asynchronous optical switching nodes.
