Fiber loop optical buffer

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1996
Fiber loop optical buffers enable data storage for discrete time intervals and therefore appear suitable for applications in optical asynchronous transfer mode (OATM)-based networks where data are transmitted in cells of fixed length. In this paper, the feasibility and the limitations of optical data storage in a fiber loop optical buffer are studied ...

Erasable fiber loop optical buffer

Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999
Optical buffers are important components of an optical switch in a high-speed optical network. We propose a model of a fiber loop buffer, which incorporates a semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA) as a nonlinear element controlled by an optical control signal.

Label-Free Ultrasensitive and Environment-Friendly Immunosensor Based on a Silica Optical Fiber for the Determination of Ciprofloxacin in Wastewater Samples.

Analytical Chemistry, 2020
Emerging contaminants, including pharmaceutical compounds, are receiving research attention as a result of their widespread presence in effluents and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The antibiotic ciprofloxacin (CIP) is extensively employed to treat

Strain Measurement in Tight Buffer Cabled Optical Fiber

2021
We have experimentally carried out a comparative study of strain in a tight buffer cable with that of a loose fiber using Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis (BOTDA). The Brillouin frequency shift was measured to be 300 MHz, which corresponds to the strain of 6000 μ-strain appearing on the fiber in tight buffer cable, with respect to the loose fiber.

Visual data detection through side-scattering in a multimode optical fiber.

Optics Letters, 2020
Light propagation in optical fibers is accompanied by random omnidirectional scattering. The small fraction of coherent guided light that escapes outside the cladding of the fiber forms a speckle pattern.

Analysis of erasable fiber loop optical buffer

Optics Communications, 1999
In this paper, we propose a model of a fiber loop buffer, which incorporates a semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA) as nonlinear element controlled by an optical control signal. The impact of the accumulated and amplified spontaneous emission noise of the SLA and data pattern dependent gain saturation effect in the SLA on the properties of the buffer is

Wavelength dependence of bending loss in monomode optical fibers: effect of the fiber buffer coating

Optics Letters, 1990
The bend-induced optical loss in a monomode fiber has been studied as a continuous function of wavelength in the range 1.2-1.6 microm. The loss was observed to be an oscillatory function of wavelength. These observations were explained by using a model based on interference between the guided core mode in the fiber and a "whispering gallery" mode ...
