Tunable photonic elements at the surface of an optical fiber with piezoelectric core. [PDF]
Tunable photonic elements at the surface of an optical fiber with piezoelectric core are proposed and analyzed theoretically. These elements are based on whispering gallery modes whose propagation along the fiber is fully controlled by nanoscale ...

An all-optical buffer based on temporal cavity solitons operating at 10 Gb/s
We demonstrate the operation of an all-optical buffer based on temporal cavity solitons stored in a nonlinear passive fiber ring resonator. Unwanted acoustic interactions between neighboring solitons are suppressed by modulating the phase of the external

Panoramic-reconstruction temporal imaging for seamless measurements of slowly-evolved femtosecond pulse dynamics [PDF]
Single-shot real-time characterization of optical waveforms with sub-picosecond resolution is essential for investigating various ultrafast optical dynamics.

We experimentally demonstrate a time-multiplexing method for pulse-pumped heralded single-photon sources using switchable optical fiber delay lines. The optical fibers constitute a 32-channel binary-division photon buffer that can multiplex time slots ...

Application of plastic optical fiber material as pH measurement sensor using loop configuration
Plastic optical fiber testing as a sensor can be applied in pH measurement using loop configuration. It was made of a plastic optical fiber material with two types of peel, namely with cladding and without cladding. Sensor testing was done by dipping the

Neutrophil deficiency increases T cell numbers at the site of tissue injury in mice
In wild‐type mice, injury or acute inflammation induces neutrophil influx followed by macrophage accumulation. Mcl1ΔMyelo (neutrophil‐deficient) mice lack neutrophils, and in response to muscle injury show fewer macrophages and exhibit strikingly elevated T‐cell numbers, primarily non‐conventional “double‐negative” (DN) αβ and γδ T cells.

Temporal localized structures in optical resonators
We review recent advances on temporal localized structures in optical resonators. Because they can be individually addressed, localized structures may be used as elementary information bits which can be stored in an optical cavity.

A Novel Approach to Realize Plasmonic Sensors via Multimode Optical Waveguides: A Review
In recent decades, the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) phenomenon has been utilized as an underlying technique in a broad range of application fields. Herein, a new measuring strategy which harnesses the SPR technique in a way that is different from the ...
