Inhibition of peripheral CB1 receptors modulates food intake and metabolic efficiency in obesity independently of the gut–brain vagal axis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Obesity involves profound disruptions in neuronal circuits, neuroendocrine communication and the endocannabinoid system. While global blockade of cannabinoid CB1 receptors improves metabolism, its clinical use is limited by neuropsychiatric side effects.

Selective IL‐23 Inhibition in Conventional Treatment‐Refractory Pyoderma Gangrenosum: A Multicenter, Retrospective Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
The clinical effects of selective IL‐23 inhibition in refractory pyoderma gangrenosum, highlighting progressive ulcer healing, reduction in inflammation and pain, and steroid‐sparing effect, supporting the role of the IL‐23/Th17 axis as a therapeutic target.

The affinities of Afrophoca libyca from basal Middle Miocene of Gebel Zelten, Libya [PDF]

open access: yesActa Palaeontologica Polonica
Re-interpretation of the holotype and only known speci-men of Afrophoca libyca reveals that it represents a me-dium -sized anthracothere, Afromeryx zelteni, a species that is common in the basal Middle Miocene deposits at Gebel Zelten, Libya.

Assessing and forecasting the effects of submersion on biodiversity. A method to implement an ecological-quality indicator in a context of coastal realignment and rising sea levels

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2022
In the context of climate change and sea-level rise, coastal realignment consists in reopening polders to marine waters to favor ‘nature-based’ mitigation measures. Such operations have consequences on biodiversity, which vary depending on the parameters

Beyond mammals: the evolution of chewing and other forms of oropharyngeal food processing in vertebrates

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 3, Page 1406-1462, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Oropharyngeal food processing exhibits a remarkable diversity among vertebrates, reflecting the evolution of specialised ‘processing centres’ associated with the mandibular, hyoid, and branchial arches. Although studies have detailed various food‐processing strategies and mechanisms across vertebrates, a coherent and comprehensive terminology ...

Contrasted habitat selection among Eurasian curlew populations according to landscape heterogeneity and breeding stage

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 4, May 2026.
This study aimed to quantify the spatio‐temporal use of breeding environments by the Eurasian curlew in 5 contrasting agricultural landscapes. To this end, 64 individuals were tagged with GPS devices to assess their space use according to their breeding stages and define their foraging habitat selection.

Soil Profiles: A Window Into Soil Genesis and Degradation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
ABSTRACT In this commentary, we argue that the soil profile represents an indispensable window into the soil system. The soil profile is a vertical section of the soil body that represents a pattern in the landscape. The description and interpretation of the layers and horizons from the surface to the parent material or bedrock is the language of soil ...

Carya nux‐taurinensis comb. nov., a fossil‐species incorporating Carya globosa (Juglandaceae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract The type material of the almost forgotten fossil‐species Juglans nux‐taurinensis is newly analysed, a lectotype is designated, and new conspecific material detected at the Italian type locality La Morra is described. We show that Juglans nux‐taurinensis must be reassigned to Carya because the locule cast of the nutshell shows two inner ...
