This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Virtual building for construction projects
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2004Although computer-aided design is widely used in the architecture-engineering-construction (AEC) industry, the exchange of information is still largely a manual process, where 2D paper drawings are reviewed to identify conflicts. Obviously, this process is time consuming and inefficient - not only do many conflicts go undetected but it's nearly ...

Additive Manufacturing on Building Construction
Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2021The future of construction will be directly connected with additive manufacturing (AM). It is easy to see the lack of consistency between jobs, labour inefficiency, schedule delays, delays on material delivery, exceeding budget projections and high percentage of material waste.

Build-A Software Construction Tool
AT&T Bell Laboratories Technical Journal, 1984The build tool is used as a sophisticated method of generating and modifying software systems. Bui Id is being used successfully by a number of UNIX™ software-based projects at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Build is an extension to the make program that permits several software developers to independently make a collection of software while sharing the same ...

Constructing buildings and design ambitions
Construction Management and Economics, 2010Project goals are conceptualized in the construction management literature as either stable and exogenously given or as emerging endogenously during the construction process. Disparate as these perspectives may be, they both overlook the role that material objects used in construction processes can play in transforming knowledge and thereby shaping ...

Our firm was one of several contractors who were consulted by the architects and engineers during the design and working drawing phases. This provided an opportunity for recommending techniques to simplify construction and, more important, it provided an opportunity to become completely familiar with the project before the bidding period.

Construction aspects of intelligent buildings
IEEE Communications Magazine, 1991Design issues for intelligent buildings are examined from the viewpoint of the Japanese construction industry. Cultural considerations for such buildings are discussed, with emphasis on the creation of amenities for the human occupants of the building. The need for an infrastructure that is adaptable to future needs is stressed.

Practical Professional Child Care, 2007
It is important to encourage physical development in children from an early age. This includes providing opportunities for babies and young children to improve their skills of coordination, control and movement. Balancing blocks to create simple structures helps babies develop fine movements in their fingers and hands, and hand-eye coordination.

Occupational risk of building construction
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2012Abstract This paper presents the quantification of occupational risk of a building construction project. Risk assessment is based on the Occupational Risk Model (ORCA) developed under the Workgroup Occupational Risk Model project (WORM), in the Netherlands, for quantifying occupational risk.
