Using robust methods for automatic extraction of buildings [PDF]
We present a system for modeling buildings from a single correlation-based Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The model is constructed in two stages. The first stage segments the DEM into planar surface patches that describe the building. The second stage generates the final polygonal model of the building using weak geometric constraints.

Fast and Robust Building Extraction Based on HSV Color Analysis Using Color Segmentation and GrabCut
In this paper, we propose a method for automatically extracting buildings from scenery images. The method utilizes color segmentation and GrabCut on the basis of the fact that the background regions of scenery images tend to be found in the upper and ...

A New Building Mask Using the Gradient of Heights for Automatic Building Extraction [PDF]
A number of building detection methods have been proposed in the literature. However, they are not effective in detecting small buildings (typically, 50 m²) and buildings with transparent roof due to the way area thresholds and ground points are used.

EANet: Edge-Aware Network for the Extraction of Buildings from Aerial Images
Deep learning methods have been used to extract buildings from remote sensing images and have achieved state-of-the-art performance. Most previous work has emphasized the multi-scale fusion of features or the enhancement of more receptive fields to ...

A Metric for Polygon Comparison and Building Extraction Evaluation [PDF]
The standardization of evaluation techniques for building extraction is an unresolved issue in the fields of remote sensing, photogrammetry, and computer vision. In this letter, we propose a metric with a working title “PoLiS metric” to compare two polygons.
