Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Scenarios for Maintenance and Building Decommissioning in the Building’s Life Cycle

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2019
The LCC analysis can be applied to assess effectiveness of construction variants or acquisition of new facilities as well as modernization of the existing ones. The authors of this paper intended to apply the LCCA method at analysing a building in the final stage of the building life cycle (grade phase).

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Assessment of the Effects of Deferred Maintenance on the Current Technical Condition of a Building: Case Study—A Former Fire Station in Nowy Raduszec

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The degradation of building elements progresses with the age of a building as a result of natural ageing processes. The lack of regular maintenance, repair, and renovation works during the operational phase accelerates degradation processes, leading to ...

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

ANALYSIS OF 5R/S WORK CULTURE IN THE BOWPLANK INSTALLATION PRACTICE IN CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING

open access: yesJurnal Pensil
The installation of bowplanks as part of the assignment work still shows variations due to the less than optimal implementation of the 5R/S work culture in the field, especially in the arrangement of measuring tools, neatness of the work area, and ...
