Research on bulbous bow ships1
International Shipbuilding Progress, 1966The propulsive performance, the bending moments amidships and the motions of a ship model representing a 24,000 DWT bulkcarrier were measured in smooth water and in irregular long-crested waves, over a speed range corresponding to 10 knots through 16 knots. The model was tested with a conventional bow and with a 9% bulb added respectively.

Research on bulbous bow ships1
International Shipbuilding Progress, 1965Model tests were carried out to determine the still water performance of a 24,000 DWT bulk carrier, provided with a large bulbous bow of hemi-spherical form. A comparison of the results with those of the same ship model, however, with conventional bow was made both for the loaded and ballast condition.

Hydrodynamic optimization of the bulbous bow shape
2013In the paper a hydrodynamic optimization problem for a ship bulbous bow has been treated and in order to deal with the problem, a genetic algorithm technique has been used. A non interactive procedure has been developed to minimize the objective function, related to the flow past a ship moving with steady forward speed in calm water. The potential flow
