Brane world models with bulk perfect fluid and broken 4D Poincare invariance

open access: yes, 2018
We consider 5D brane world models with broken global 4D Poincar\a'{e} invariance (4D part of the spacetime metric is not conformal to the Minkowski spacetime). The bulk is filled with the negative cosmological constant and may contain a perfect fluid. In

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Local bulk S-matrix elements and CFT singularities

open access: yes, 2009
We give a procedure for deriving certain bulk S-matrix elements from corresponding boundary correlators. These are computed in the plane wave limit, via an explicit construction of certain boundary sources that give bulk wavepackets.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Dissipation and nonlocality in a general expanding braneworld universe

open access: yes, 2009
We study the evolution of both scalar and tensor cosmological perturbations in a Randall-Sundrum braneworld having an arbitrary expansion history. We adopt a four dimensional point of view where the degrees of freedom on the brane constitute an open ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Bulking Agents: Anesthesia Techniques

open access: yesUrologia Journal, 2009
Bulking therapy for the minimally invasive treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) may be offered to women with urodynamic SUI, wishing to avoid the complications associated with more invasive surgery, on the basis of low operative morbidity and low long-term success rates.

High-energy effective theory for a bulk brane

open access: yes, 2005
We derive an effective theory describing the physics of a bulk brane in the context of the RS1 model. This theory goes beyond the usual low energy effective theory in that it describes the regime where the bulk brane has a large velocity and the radion ...
