Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Direct Mode‐Resolved Measurement of Interfacial Phonon Transport by Acoustic Phonon Reflectometry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
We introduce a novel analysis, acoustic phonon reflectometry, that measures the mode‐resolved phonon reflection coefficient at semiconductor interfaces. In aluminum nitride, we observe excellent agreement with the acoustic mismatch model across three distinct interfaces.

Acousto-optic superlattice modulator using Fibre Bragg grating

open access: yes, 1997
A modulator is reported in which an extensional acoustic wave is launched along a fiber Bragg grating. The acousto-optic superlattice effect causes an enhancement in reflectivity within a narrow spectral region on both sides of the Bragg wavelength.

Hybrid Magnetoactive Soft Elastomers: Material Development Toward Application in Diaphragm Pumps

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hybrid magnetoactive soft elastomeric membranes are developed by combining two different types of magnetic particles. The membranes exhibit distinct mechanical, magnetic and thermal properties owing to the unique characteristics of the two magnetic particles.

Hydrodynamic acoustic plasmon resonances in semiconductor nanowires and their dimers

open access: yes, 2019
The hydrodynamic Drude model known from metal plasmonics also applies to semiconductor structures of sizes in between single-particle quantum confinement and bulk.

Energy-trapped shallow bulk acoustic waves

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1979
A low-loss high-sidelobe-rejection shallow bulk acoustic filter has been constructed. The delay line consisted of apodised and finger-withdrawal-weighted transducers as well as a metallic energy-trapping grating. Experimental results are given and discussed.

Ductility Tuning via Cluster Network Characteristics of Porous Components

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Network optimization via cluster characteristics induced by interaction of stress concentration is proposed, demonstrating increased cluster size and dispersion in non‐uniform porous components. The optimized structures exhibit, for the first time, that enhanced ductility and damage progression is controllable through zigzag cluster network designed by

Dissipative Interaction and Anomalous Surface Absorption of Bulk Phonons at a Two-Dimensional Defect in a Solid

open access: yes, 1998
We predict an extreme sensitivity to the dissipative losses of the resonant interaction of bulk phonons with a 2D defect in a solid. We show that the total resonant reflection of the transverse phonon at the 2D defect, described earlier without an ...
