Bulk viscosity of simple liquids
The Journal of Chemical PhysicsAnomalous intrinsic properties of bulk viscosity at normal states of simple liquids were revealed by molecular dynamics simulations, compared with shear viscosity and thermal conductivity. To this end, we analyzed the partial contributions of the time correlation function in the Green–Kubo formula not only from pair and three-body interactions but also

Bulk-viscosity-driven inflationary model
Physical Review D, 1986Bulk viscosity associated with the production of heavy particles during the grand-unified-theory phase transition can lead to exponential or ''generalized'' inflation. The condition of inflation proposed is independent of the details of the phase transition and remains unaltered in the presence of a cosmological constant.

Viscous generalized Chaplygin gas as a unified dark fluid: including perturbation of bulk viscosity [PDF]
In this paper, we continue our previous work of studying viscous generalized Chaplygin gas as a unified dark fluid but the bulk viscosity perturbations.

Measurement of the Bulk Viscosity
2013The estimation of \(\zeta /s\) by matching experimental measurements of flow coefficients and the results from hydrodynamic simulations is hard for the bulk viscosity because of the difficulty of disentangle its effect with respect to the bigger effect of the shear viscosity.

New expression of the bulk viscosity
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2003Abstract We provide a physical insight into the mechanism of the bulk viscosity ζ and construct a new expression of ζ directly from microscopic information such as the interatomic potential and the pair distribution function. This is an outstanding advantage when compared to the previously proposed formulae in all of which ζ is expressed only in ...

Sonically produced heat in a fluid with bulk viscosity and shear viscosity
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1985When a sound field is set up in an absorbing medium, heat is produced in a spatial pattern which, in general, depends on the absorption mechanism. Consider a fluid with bulk viscosity coefficient B′ and shear viscosity coefficient η. In a continuous traveling plane wave the time-averaged volume rate of heat production 〈qv〉 at any point is proportional ...
