Emergency intubation with the Combitube™ in a grossly obese patient with bull neck

A grossly obese patient with bull neck required immediate intubation. Endotracheal intubation failed because visualization of the vocal cords was not possible. As an alternative, the Combitube was inserted without difficulty and the patients lungs were ventilated via the Combitube until tracheotomy was performed on the following day.

Insulating the scrotal neck affects semen quality and scrotal/testicular temperatures in the bull

Abnormalities of testicular origin in the neck region of bull spermatozoa

Abstract Spermatozoa and developing spermatids showing neck region abnormalities have been studied in material from two bulls. In both bulls the defects were related to abnormalities in chromatin condensation during spermiogenesis and it is concluded that the defects were congenital.

SummaryEthephon at 1 000 and 3 000 mg l−1 applied either on one occasion or three times at weekly intervals to two onion cultivars reduced average bulb weight and total yield by 14% to 67%. In cv Hygro the percentage of bull-neck bulbs was reduced by ethephon but cv Cepavon was unaffected.

Endotracheal intubation is without doubt the optimal method for emergency airway management. Rapid intubation and effective ventilation are the major aims during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. As an alternative, the Combitube can be used whenever endotracheal intubation is not immediately possible.

Clinical results of a modular neck hip system: hitting the "bull's-eye" more accurately.

In this article, we present 2-year clinical results of a modular neck tapered hip stem, based on 634 patients from a 2-center study. Nearly half of the patients in this series required use of a head center location offered by the modular neck stem but not available in a nonmodular stem with an identical body.
