An infrared proper motion study of the Orion bullets [PDF]
We report the first IR proper motion measurements of the Herbig-Haro objects in the Orion Molecular Cloud--One using a four-year time baseline. The [Fe II] emitting bullets are moving of order 0.08 arcsec per year, or at about 170 \kms. The direction of motion is similar to that inferred from their morphology.

Hamiltonian mappings and circle packing phase spaces [PDF]
We introduce three area preserving maps with phase space structures which resemble circle packings. Each mapping is derived from a kicked Hamiltonian system with one of three different phase space geometries (planar, hyperbolic or spherical) and exhibits

Amyloid-β and tau: the trigger and bullet in Alzheimer disease pathogenesis.
The defining features of Alzheimer disease (AD) include conspicuous changes in both brain histology and behavior. The AD brain is characterized microscopically by the combined presence of 2 classes of abnormal structures, extracellular amyloid plaques ...

Velocity and acceleration freely tunable straight-line propagation light bullet
Three-dimensional (3-D) light solitons in space–time, referred to as light bullets, have many novel properties and wide applications. Here we theoretically show how the combination of diffraction-free beam and ultrashort pulse spatiotemporal-coupling ...
