On epistemic aporias and the coloniality of (my) categories

open access: yesAmerican Ethnologist, Volume 52, Issue 1, Page 90-99, February 2025.
Abstract This piece interrogates aporias of epistemic certainty by thinking through categories of medicine and uchawi (witchcraft) in Tanzania. I open with an account of how I misrecognized the meaning of a newspaper article about “head‐switching operations” posted on a hospital bulletin board.

Food Safety in Developing Countries: Common Foodborne and Waterborne Illnesses, Regulations, Organizational Structure, and Challenges of Food Safety in the Context of Nepal

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 1, Page 86-123, January 2025.
Food safety presents a global challenge, contributing to 600 million cases of foodborne diseases and 420,000 fatalities annually worldwide. A multisectoral One Health approach involving collaboration among government agencies, food industry stakeholders, consumers, and civil society organizations is imperative to enhance food safety in developing ...

Stabilising effects of lumped integration schemes for the simulation of metal-electrolyte reactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Computational modelling of metal-electrolyte reactions is central to the understanding and prediction of a wide range of physical phenomena, yet this is often challenging owing to the presence of numerical oscillations that arise due to dissimilar reaction rates.

MODELLING OF CO2 SOLUBILITY IN DIETHANOLAMINE, NMETHYLDIETHANOLAMINE AND THEIR MIXTURES USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Natural gas has a wide range of acid gas concentrations, from parts per million to 50 volume percent and higher, depending on the nature of the rock formation from which it comes. Because of the corrosiveness of H2S and CO2 in the presence of water and

The Effect of Tomato Pomace on the Oxidative and Microbiological Stability of Raw Fermented Sausages With Reduced Addition of Nitrites

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The aim of the study was to assess the impact of the addition of freeze‐dried tomato pomace (TP) on the physicochemical parameters, oxidative changes, and microbiological stability of raw fermented sausages with reduced addition of nitrites. It was shown that the addition of TP reduced the pH value of experimental meat products.

Reverse Engineering Chemical Reaction Networks from Time Series Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The automated inference of physically interpretable (bio)chemical reaction network models from measured experimental data is a challenging problem whose solution has significant commercial and academic ramifications. It is demonstrated, using simulations, how sets of elementary reactions comprising chemical reaction networks, as well as their rate ...

Going Beyond Woodward and Hoffmann's Electrocyclizations and Cycloadditions: Sigmatropic Rearrangements**

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 24, Issue 12, December 2024.
Even after Woodward and Hoffmann had determined the orbital symmetry mechanism of electrocyclizations and cycloadditions, it was not evident to either of them that a further mechanistic problem awaited. But Hoffmann's curiosity about the mechanism of the Cope reaction led him down a winding, nonlinear path that eventually resulted in the definition of ...
