A Soft Robotic Fish With a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator Body and Negative Stiffness Spine
This work introduces a bio‐mimetic soft robotic fish driven by fiber‐reinforced dielectric elastomer actuators integrated as its body. By prestretching this active skin against a flexible spine, a negative stiffness system is created, enabling large‐amplitude bending.

An analytical model on static smoke exhaust in Atria
Static smoke exhaust systems with natural vents are starting to be installed in big shopping complexes, ware‐houses and cargo terminals in the Far East. These systems are used for natural ventilation as well as for letting out smoke.

Spontaneous chiral parity breaking by hydromagnetic buoyancy
Evidence for a parity-breaking nature of the magnetic buoyancy instability in a stably stratified gas is reported. In the absence of rotation, no helicity is produced, but the non-helical state is found to be unstable to small helical perturbations ...

In Situ Characterisation of Hydrogels via Dynamic Interface Printing
ABSTRACT Hydrogels have become pivotal materials for tissue engineering, robotics, biomedical devices, and sensing applications due to their diverse material compositions and tunable mechanical properties. While significant effort has focused on developing novel manufacturing approaches such as extrusion bioprinting and light‐based fabrication methods,

Photon‐Sphere Modes in Curved Optical Microcavities: A Black‐Hole Analogue Laser
An optical analogue of a Schwarzschild black hole is realized using curved microcavities that preserve light‐like geodesics. A new family of laser modes confined around the photon sphere is identified alongside conventional whispering‐gallery modes. Analytical theory, numerical simulations, and experiments reveal curvature‐induced confinement, enabling

Laboratory experiments on stability and entrainment of oceanic stratocumulus. Part 2: Entrainment experiment [PDF]
A stratified interface is stable to the buoyancy reversal instability for surprisingly large values of D (buoyancy reversal parameter). A new instability mechanism is proposed, which considers the mixing process at the interface.

Tracer dispersion in the turbulent convective layer
Experimental results for passive tracer dispersion in the turbulent surface layer under convective conditions are presented. In this case, the dispersion of tracer particles is determined by the interplay of two mechanisms: buoyancy and advection. In the
