CFD modeling and sensitivity‐guided design of silicon filament CVD reactors
Abstract Filament‐based chemical vapor deposition (CVD) for silicon (Si) coatings is often treated as an adaptation of planar deposition. But this overlooks fundamental shifts in transport phenomena and reaction kinetics. In filament CVD, the filament acts as a substrate, heat source, and flow disruptor simultaneously. In this work, we ask: What really

A new drag and lift correlation for spherocylinders from fully resolved Immersed Boundary Method
Abstract Many industrial processes deal with non‐spherical particles, e.g., mineral mining and biomass conversion. It is crucial to understand the particles' hydrodynamics to control and optimize these processes. To extend the current state‐of‐the‐art from arrays of spherical particles to spherocylindrical particles, we performed extensive particle ...

Behaviour and buoyancy control in a shallow diving marine mammal, the dugong (Dugong dugon)
Shallow diving air-breathing animals face the challenge of maximising oxygen stores to extend dive duration while being subject to rapid pressure changes, especially in the first 10 m.

Energy Budget Characterisation of the Optimal Disturbance in Stratified Shear Flow
Stratified Taylor–Couette flow (STCF) undergoes transient growth. Recent studies have shown that there exists transient amplification in the linear regime of counter-rotating STCF.

The oscillations of buoyant bodies in stratified fluids are deduced from the variations of their added mass. Three configurations are considered: a body displaced from its neutral level then released; a Cartesian diver set into oscillation by a modulation of the hydrostatic pressure, then released; and a body attached to a pendulum to which an impulse ...

Bubbles Acting as Micro End‐Effectors for Dexterous Manipulation and Sensing in Aqueous Environment
Inspired by bubbles, this article proposes a low‐cost method for multifunctional manipulation and sensing using microbubbles in aqueous environments. Bubbles are easily generated in situ, enabling the safe and adaptive handling of microobjects and sensing of microforces and surface textures.

An analytical model on static smoke exhaust in Atria
Static smoke exhaust systems with natural vents are starting to be installed in big shopping complexes, ware‐houses and cargo terminals in the Far East. These systems are used for natural ventilation as well as for letting out smoke.

A Steerable and Expandable Magnetic Aspiration Catheter for Enhanced Aspiration Thrombectomy
This article presents a novel magnetic aspiration catheter (MAC) that can be both actively steered and undergo distal‐end expansion via externally applied magnetic fields. The MAC facilitates precise branch selection and enhances clot engagement by improving endovascular navigation and aspiration efficiency. Phantom experiments validate its feasibility
