The complete mitochondrial genome of the jewel beetle Trachys variolaris (Coleoptera: Buprestidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the jewel beetle, Trachys variolaris, was sequenced and described. The mitogenome of T. variolaris is a typical circular DNA molecule with 16,771 bp in length.

Cascading ecological effects caused by the establishment of the emerald ash borer Agrilus planipennis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) in European Russia

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2015
Emerald ash borer, Agrilus planipennis, is a destructive invasive forest pest in North America and European Russia. This pest species is rapidly spreading in European Russia and is likely to arrive in other countries soon.

From forest stand decline to salvage logging: Cascading impacts on saproxylic beetle diversity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 7, July 2026.
Given the pronounced context dependency of the processes driving these cascading community dynamics, and considering the increasing frequency, severity and spatial extent of forest disturbances and global stand decline, it is imperative to integrate this complexity into management and conservation frameworks.

Sex Ratios Within the Quasi‐Social Parasitoid Genus Sclerodermus

open access: yesEntomological Research, Volume 56, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Sex ratios are an important component of parasitoid wasps' reproductive strategies and seem to be generally well described by evolutionary ecological theory, such as local mate competition (LMC). The sex ratios of several Sclerodermus species do not fit the predictions of standard LMC models, as their sex ratios remain strongly female biased ...

Temperature Impacts on Mating and Oviposition of the Emerald Ash Borer, Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire (Coleoptera: Buprestidae)

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 7, Page 715-724, July 2026.
The emerald ash borer (EAB), Agrilus planipennis, threatens ash trees in North America and Europe. To assess the role of temperature on EAB reproduction, we reared adults at one of four temperatures (12°C, 15°C, 18°C, and 21°C) and measured reproductive success.

Buprestidae (Coleoptera) of the Virgin Islands

open access: yesThe Florida Entomologist, 1984
Nine species of Buprestidae are recorded from the Virgin Islands. Acmaeodera gundlachi Fisher, Trigonogya uniformis (Waterhouse), and Chrysobothris wolcotti Fisher are recorded for the first time from the Virgin Islands. All species are keyed, diagnosed and notes on synonomy, distribution, taxonomic history, and biology are provided.
