Marine Micropaleontology, 2012
Abstract Herein, we report quantitative micropaleontological (benthic foraminifers, dinoflagellate cysts, calcareous nannoplankton), sedimentological (grain-size analysis) and geophysical (background gamma radiation) analyses from Ottnang–Schanze, the stratotype for the regional Ottnangian stage (Central Paratethys; Lower Miocene, middle Burdigalian).

Burdigalian dinocyst stratigraphyof the stratotypic area (Bordeaux, France)
Geobios, 1998A palynological study of the Burdigalian historical stratotype and neighbouring outcrops in the Bordeaux area indicates that they span the Burdigalian and part of the Serravallian time interval. Special palynological processing techniques for crag deposits were used to successfully extract abundant and diverse dinocyst floras.

Lower Miocene (Aquitanien-Burdigalian) palaeobiogeography of the Indian subcontinent
Geologische Rundschau, 1980The paper analytically discusses certain palaeoecological criteria in the reconstruction of Lower Miocene (Aquitanian-Burdigalian) palaeobiogeography of the Indian subcontinent. The period is characterised by major marine transgressions and a prolific marine invertebrate and terrestrial vertebrate faunas.

Plant–insect interactions from the Miocene (Burdigalian–Langhian) of Jiangxi, China
Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology, 2020Abstract The study of plant–insect interactions can provide valuable information about terrestrial ecosystems. A plant assemblage from the Toupi Formation of Jiangxi, China, provides indirect evidence of the plant–insect interactions that occurred in a Miocene forest community.

The Miocene (Burdigalian) Operculinids of Channa Kodi, Padappakkara, Kerala, Southern India
Palaeontographica Abteilung A, 2018An Operculina assemblage collected from the fossiliferous Quilon Limestone in SW India (Padappakkara locality) is described here. The Operculina assemblage is characterized by very high abundance, excellent preservation and relatively high diversity. 61 specimens have been investigated by computed tomography: this allowed the measurements of a number ...

Chapter A2 The burdigalian historical stratotype
1995Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the burdigalian historical stratotype. The term Burdigalian (from Burdigala , Latin name for the city of Bordeaux in the Roman time) was proposed as a stage name by Deperet (1892) in two distinct French areas, the Bordeaux area and the Rhone valley: “ … on doit distinguer dans le Miocene matin un grand etage ...
