Mineral deposits of Lake Salda (Burdur province, Republic of Türkiye)

Using the X-ray phase method, the mineral composition of modern mineral sediments of Lake Salda in Turkey was studied. It has been established that the deposits are represented by hydromagnesite Mg5(CO3)4(OH)2×4H2O, guntite CaMg3(CO3)4 and a mechanical admixture of enstatite Mg2Si2O6.

Burdur Lake is a closed-basin, alkaline, saline lake, at 845 m above sea level in south-west Anatolia, Turkey, divided between the provinces of Burdur to the south and Isparta to the north. It is 30 km long by up to 7 km wide and lies tectonic depression with a maximum depth of 110 m. It is the sixth largest lake of Turkey with an area of 250 km2.

In this study, geological andhydrogeological properties of the Çorak Lake were investigated. In addition,the water quality of the water resources in the basin was evaluated. Çorak Lakethat holds seasonal water and has an area of 10 km2.The allochtonous andneo-autochthonous rock units are observed with different age and lithology inthe lake basin.

Flora of the Burdur lake surroundings Turkiye

Bu araştırma Burdur Gölü çevresinin florasını tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma alanı Davis’in Grid sistemine göre C3 karesi içinde yer almaktadır. Araştırma bölgesinden toplanan yaklaşık 1005 bitki örneğinin değerlendirilmesi sonucu 70 familya, bu familyalara ait 275 cins ve bu cinslere ait 465 takson tespit edilmiştir.

Land-Use Features and Problems in the Burdur Lake Basin

The Burdur Lake basin occured in the Fethiye-Burdur fault zone by graben movement at NE-SW direction. Lowest area of the basin is covered by endoreic Burdur lake. There are very limited water plant and fish in the lake because of salinity. However, it is a very important bird shelter and one of Turkish wetlands listed as Ramsar.
