Dispersion‐Less Dissipative Soliton Fiber Laser

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 6, 18 March 2026.
A dispersion‐less fiber laser architecture generates high‐energy, pedestal‐free picosecond pulses without resorting to conventional pulse stretching. This energy‐managed laser achieves remarkable flexibility in pulse parameters, delivering up to 0.54 μJ$\mathrm{\mu}\mathrm{J}$ pulses with minimal spectral distortion using standard telecom components ...

Unveiling the Probiotic Properties of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei UFTM 2.9 Through Probiogenomic Analysis

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 6, 29 March 2026.
Probiogenomic and in vitro analyses revealed that Lacticaseibacillus paracasei UFTM 2.9 does not exhibit virulence determinants, produces inhibitory compounds against pathogenic bacteria, and possesses 170 genes associated with probiotics, which corroborates its metabolic versatility and potential for survival and functionality in the gastrointestinal ...

Demystifying fungal systematics: A gateway to fungal literacy and societal/ecological relevance through familiar species

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 2, Page 499-515, March 2026.
Fungal systematics can feel overwhelming given the vast species diversity within this kingdom, with numerous subgroups at every taxonomic rank. This often creates a disconnect between the undertsnidng of fungal taxonomic diversity and their societal relevance.

Episodic Northward Transport Along Nares Strait Brings Anomalously Warm Water Into the Arctic Ocean

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Nares Strait is one of the primary Arctic export pathways for sea ice and freshwater, connecting the Arctic Ocean to the subpolar North Atlantic. The southward transport along the strait, primarily driven by the higher sea level in the Arctic compared to Baffin Bay, has occasionally been observed to reverse.

Five‐Minute Apgar Scores and Its Prognostic Value for Mortality and Severe Morbidity in Very Preterm Infants: A Multinational Cohort Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 4, Page 649-659, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine associations between a 5‐min Apgar score < 7 and severe neonatal outcomes in very preterm (VPT) infants and how results are impacted by variations in assigning Apgar scores within an international context. Design Prospective observational population‐based cohort study.

Sulfites Chemistry in Wines: From Reference Quantification Methods to More Sustainable Innovative Approaches

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Sulfites are widely used as preservatives in winemaking due to their antioxidant, anti‐enzymatic, and antimicrobial properties. However, dietary sulfites have been linked to adverse reactions in sensitive individuals, especially those with asthma.
