Social network dynamics under experimental manipulations of predation risk and food abundance in wild rock hyraxes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
This study combines replicated experimental manipulation, social network analysis, network permutations and meta‐analysis to disentangle active from spatially‐induced changes in animal network structure in the wild. It reveals that short‐term environmental changes primarily alter space use, with limited effects on social structure.

Crossroads of the Life of Vittorio Alfieri

open access: yesJournal for Eighteenth-Century Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines Vittorio Alfieri's Life as a deliberately constructed narrative of cultural, linguistic, and political self‐fashioning within eighteenth‐century European intellectual networks. Rather than treating the autobiography as a transparent record of experience, the article argues that Alfieri retrospectively reorganizes his ...

Agroecology and Transformative Adaptation to Climate Change

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines transformative adaptation to climate change through the EFICAS Project (Eco‐Friendly Intensification and Climate‐resilient Agricultural Systems) implemented across 12 upland communities in northern Laos from 2014 to 2020.

The First Archaeomagnetic Age at Tiwanaku and Implications for Dating Andean Metallurgical Furnaces

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents the first archaeomagnetic dating at Tiwanaku (Andean Altiplano). We compared the geomagnetic field values recorded by a metallurgical furnace against an updated SHAWQ2k‐SH global model and a regional intensity curve, both of which include, for the first time, high‐quality intensity data from the Southern Hemisphere. Results

Circulating levels of insulin‐like growth factor I (IGF‐I) and risk of multiple myeloma: An observational and Mendelian randomisation study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Evidence for an association between insulin‐like growth factors (IGF) and multiple myeloma (MM) is inconsistent. We examined total IGF‐I concentrations and risk of MM by combining baseline serological data among UK Biobank participants (n = 444 187; 732 incident MM) with a two‐sample Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis using identified ...

Nanoparticle-based delivery enhances anti-inflammatory effect of low molecular weight heparin in experimental ulcerative colitis

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2017
Epithelial administration of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) has proven its therapeutic efficiency in ulcerative colitis (UC) but still lacks of a sufficiently selective drug delivery system. Polymeric nanoparticles were used here not only to protect

Cannabidiol and cannabigerol ameliorate steatotic liver disease via phosphocreatine buffering and lysosomal restoration

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) alleviate hepatic steatosis in obese mice by shifting energy buffering towards phosphocreatine and enhancing lysosomal lipid degradation and trafficking. These effects are associated with increased creatine kinase activity and lysobisphosphatidic acid (LBPA) levels, highlighting a previously unrecognised ...

Prognostic Factors in Patients With Submacular Haemorrhage Complicating Age‐Related Macular Degeneration: A Post Hoc Analysis of the STAR Study

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To investigate prognostic factors of recent submacular haemorrhage (SMH) complicating neovascular age‐related macular degeneration (nAMD) treated with surgery or pneumatic displacement combined with intravitreal injection of anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor.

open access: yesCurtis's Botanical Magazine, EarlyView.
Summary Echinacea simulata McGregor (Compositae: Heliantheae: Zinniinae) is described and illustrated. Notes are provided for the species' cultivation, propagation, likely pests and diseases, and availability. A full synonymy is given, along with type citations and known presence of type material, together with relevant notes. Statements of the species'
