Centrifuge Modeling of Buried Pipelines

Advancing Mitigation Technologies and Disaster Response for Lifeline Systems, 2003
Fault crossing, lateral spreads and other types of permanent ground deformation (PGD) are arguably the most severe seismic hazards for continuous buried pipelines. Current analysis and design procedures, to a great extent, are based upon Finite Element (FE) modeling.

Stray current corrosion in buried pipeline

Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 2011
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyze and solve abnormal variation of pipe‐to‐soil potentials of an oil‐transfer pipeline.Design/methodology/approachPipe‐to‐soil potentials of an oil‐transfer pipeline varied abnormally at several locations.

Earthquake resistance of buried pipelines

A complete dynamic analysis is performed for the investigation of the behaviour of buried pipelines in a seismic environment. Axial and transverse displacements and axial and bending strains are evaluated. The effects of seismic ground motion parameters and structural and soil characteristics on the response of these extended structures are determined.

Analysis of Buried, Jointed Pipelines

1987
ABSTRACT An exact, closed-form solution for a uniformly-loaded, straight, buried, Jointed Bernoulli-Euler beam with an arbitrarily-located piece-wise linear joint has been developed in the usefull form of a space-beam, finite-element suitable for inclusion in a space-frame, stiffness computer program.

Liquefaction Analysis for Buried Pipelines

1987

External Pipeline Coating Selection for New and Existing Buried Pipelines

Volume 1: Regulations, Codes, and Standards; Current Issues; Materials; Corrosion and Integrity, 1996
The majority of existing and new pipelines are externally coated. The opportunity to examine buried pipelines has shown that selection of both shop and over-the-ditch field applied coatings has resulted in many failures. Coating selection in 1996 has become more complex because of the abundance of available products.
