Deep operator network models for predicting post-burn contraction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Burn injuries present a significant global health challenge. Among the most severe long-term consequences are contractures, which can lead to functional impairments and disfigurement. Understanding and predicting the evolution of post-burn wounds is essential for developing effective treatment strategies. Traditional mathematical models, while accurate,

METTL14‐Induced M6A Methylation Increases G6pc Biosynthesis, Hepatic Glucose Production and Metabolic Disorders in Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is shown that obesity is associated with increases in hepatic METTL14 and m6A methylation of G6pc transcript. YTHDF1 and YTHDF3 bind to m6A‐marked G6pc mRNA to increase its synthesis. Hepatocyte‐specific deletion of Mettl14 decreases G6pc m6A methylation, G6pc biosynthesis, and G6pc‐mediated gluconeogenesis, alleviating glucose metabolic defects in ...

Prediction of Workplace Injuries [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Workplace injuries result in substantial human and financial losses. As reported by the International Labour Organization (ILO), there are more than 374 million work-related injuries reported every year. In this study, we investigate the problem of injury risk prediction and prevention in a work environment.

Engineered Tissue Models to Decode Host–Microbiota Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host–Microbiota interactions in the human body. Created in BioRender. Ghezzi, C. (2025) https://BioRender.com/ihivskg. Abstract A mutualistic co‐evolution exists between the host and its associated microbiota in the human body. Bacteria establish ecological niches in various tissues of the body, locally influencing their physiology and functions, but ...

PyroGuardian: An IoT-Enabled System for Health and Location Monitoring in High-Risk Firefighting Environments [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
First responders risk their lives to reduce property damage and prevent injuries during disasters. Among first responders, firefighters work with fires in residential properties, forests, or other locations where fire occurs. We built the PyroGuardian system that uses wearable modules to transmit unit information over Long Range (LoRa) to an Android ...

Robust Controlled Degradation of Enzyme Loaded PCL‐Based Fibrous Scaffolds Toward Scarless Skin Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel biodegradable wound dressing (E‐PCLs) based on polycaprolactone (PCL) and an enzyme complex (RHP‐BCL) is developed using a fiber microfluidic electrospinning technique. The dressing achieves complete degradation within 14 days, eliminates microplastic residues, and promotes scar‐free healing (99% in 21 days).

Precision‐Guided Stealth Missiles in Biomedicine: Biological Carrier‐Mediated Nanomedicine Hitchhiking Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Diagram illustrating the binding methods of NPs and biological barriers. The biological carrier‐mediated nanomedicine hitchhiking strategy (BCM‐NHS) utilizes two distinct techniques: the surface‐based “Backpack” method, which relies on ligand‐receptor binding, covalent conjugation, and non‐covalent binding, and the encapsulated “Trojan horse” approach,

Chirality Regulates Stem Cell Fate and Promotes Corneal Epithelial Regeneration via Manipulating Notch Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chirality governs the limbal epithelial stem cell fate. Right‐handed chirality enhances cell proliferation and differentiation, while left‐handed chirality partially maintains cell stemness. By activating the Notch pathway, 3D right‐handed chiral hydrogel offers a drug‐free and cell‐free strategy for effective corneal regeneration.

Endothelial EGLN3-PKM2 signaling induces the formation of acute astrocytic barrier to alleviate immune cell infiltration after subarachnoid hemorrhage

open access: yesFluids and Barriers of the CNS
Background Most subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) patients have no obvious hematoma lesions but exhibit blood–brain barrier dysfunction and vasogenic brain edema. However, there is a few days between blood‒brain barrier dysfunction and vasogenic brain edema.
