Cold Atmospheric Plasma‐Activated Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Gel as a Tumor‐Infiltrating Immunoactivation Platform for Post‐Surgical Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An injectable cold atmospheric plasma‐activated decellularized tumor extracellular matrix hydrogel is introduced as a post‐surgical immunoactivation platform. The engineered gel attracts residual tumor cells and induces immunogenic cell death, reshaping the tumor microenvironment and eliciting systemic antitumor immunity. In combination with checkpoint

Triply‐Twinned Metamaterials: Unraveling the Mechanics and Failure Pathways Through High‐Resolution XCT

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Triply‐twinned architected lattices transform deformation from bending to stretching of struts, delivering up to threefold increases in stiffness and strength across polymeric and metallic systems. High‐resolution synchrotron XCT and image‐based simulations reveal how meta‐grain architecture, defects, and AM build orientation govern failure pathways ...

Selective enzymatic debridement and modified Meek technique in the treatment of extensive burns: Preliminary observations

open access: yesHealth Science Reports
Background Selective bromelain‐based enzymatic debridement (BED) has emerged as a valid alternative for the treatment of extensive burns, with Total Body Surface Area (TBSA) > 20%.

Factor XIII-guided treatment algorithm reduces blood transfusion in burn surgery

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Anestesiologia
Background and objectives: Major burn surgery causes large hemorrhage and coagulation dysfunction. Treatment algorithms guided by ROTEM® and factor VIIa reduce the need for blood products, but there is no evidence regarding factor XIII.

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Radical release and reconstruction of severe post burn flexion contractures of elbow and knee in young adults: Our experience

open access: yesIndian Journal of Burns
Severe burn contractures of the knee and elbow are debilitating deformities. The shortened musculotendinous units and neurovascular structures stand out as bowstrings and damage to these structures is possible when attempted to straighten it forcefully ...

Single‐Chromophore Homojunction Organic Solar Cells: A Path to Simplicity and Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses how the intrinsic optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors, their molecular packing in the solid‐state, and internal energetic gradients within a device can enable free‐charge carrier generation in homojunction organic solar cells.

The comprehensive burn unit.

open access: yesCanadian journal of surgery. Journal canadien de chirurgie, 1986
A burn unit is only as good as its staff. Trained, experienced nurses, therapists and surgeons accustomed to dealing with large open wounds are a major requisite for the care of burned patients, who have a multisystem disease. Equipment needs include monitors, hydrotherapy tank, ready access to the operating room and comprehensive rehabilitation ...
