Sleeping Bag Horizontal Burn Rates

Journal of Coated Fabrics, 1979
Over fifty commercial sleeping bags were tested for hori zontal burn rate using the CPAI-75 method. All but one met the six inch per minute standard. Analysis by filling fiber type showed down burned at the slowest rate. A new polyester-based fibers blend has been developed with down-like aesthetics, performance and burn rate to pro vide a greater ...

ELECTROCHEMICAL BURN RATE ACCELERATION

International Journal of Energetic Materials and Chemical Propulsion
An electrochemical mechanism of accelerating the burn rate of pyrotechnic compositions and composite propellants is presented. Magnesium-Teflon-graphite fluoride-graphite (MTGFG) compositions were used as the model system to demonstrate the effect. Electric currents are generated in situ by electrochemical cell reactions in the composition itself by ...

Review of composite propellant burn rate modeling

17th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1979
Steady-state combustion modeling of composite solid propellants is discussed with emphasis on the Beckstead-Derr-Price (BDP) model. The BDP model and some revisions are considered with respect to the analysis of monomodal ammonium perchlorate/inert binder propellants: topics examined include continuity relations, surface area relations, characteristic ...

Solid Propellent Burning Rate Theory

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1960
The progress of solid propellent technology appears to have been retarded by lack of development of a fundamental mechanism of burning. A study of previous work indicates that while experimental techniques used are valid, hypotheses were inadequate; and fresh hypothetical approaches are needed.

Acoustic emission strand burning technique for motor burning rate prediction

14th Joint Propulsion Conference, 1978
An acoustic emission (AE) method is being used to measure the burning rate of solid propellant strands. This method has a precision of 0.5% and excellent burning rate correlation with both subscale and large rocket motors. The AE procedure burns the sample under water and measures the burning rate from the acoustic output.

Burning Rate Measurement of Solid Propellants

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1961
An improved technique for measuring the burning rate of experimental propellants is described. By using a thick ΒΌ-in. i.d. Lucite cylinder to hold the propellant grain, none of the usual inhibition problems are encountered. In addition, since the Lucite does not char on burning, the technique is ideally suited for high speed window bomb photography ...
