Acoustic emission strand burning technique for motor burning rate prediction
14th Joint Propulsion Conference, 1978An acoustic emission (AE) method is being used to measure the burning rate of solid propellant strands. This method has a precision of 0.5% and excellent burning rate correlation with both subscale and large rocket motors. The AE procedure burns the sample under water and measures the burning rate from the acoustic output.
