Mechanisms of Increasing Weld Depth during Temporal Power Modulation in High‐Power Laser Beam Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Temporal power modulation increases weld depth in high‐power laser beam welding of dissimilar round bars by nearly 20% compared to same average continuously welded welding power. The mechanism of action also applies to sheet welding and depends on the inertia of keyhole depth for the modulated laser beam power.

Novel hydrogels based on polysaccharides for soft tissue regeneration: preparation and characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá přípravou, síťováním a fyzikálně-chemickou charakterizací hydrogelů na bázi polysacharidů. Cílem práce bylo vyvinout elastické filmy, které by mohly být použity pro vlhké hojení ran.

High-repetition-rate combustion thermometry with two-line atomic fluorescence excited by diode lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report on kilohertz-repetition-rate flame temperature measurements performed using blue diode lasers. Two-line atomic fluorescence was performed by using diode lasers emitting at around 410 and 451 nm to probe seeded atomic indium.

Tourniquet associated chemical burn

open access: yesIndian Journal of Orthopaedics, 2012
Chemical burn under pneumatic tourniquet is an iatrogenic preventable injury and is rarely reported in the literature. The two important mechanisms are maceration (friction) and wetness underneath the tourniquent. In this report, our experience with two illustrative patients who presented with iatrogenic tourniquet associated burn is described.

An Examination of Aerosol Jet‐Printed Surface Roughness and its Impact on the Performance of High‐Frequency Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

Investigation of Solid‐Solution Phase Formation in AlCuNiSi Medium Entropy Alloys and its Effect on Microstructural, Thermal, and Microhardness Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study focuses on synthesizing equiatomic AlCuNiSi medium‐entropy alloys using mechanical alloying for advanced industrial applications. Continuous milling leads to grain refinement and the formation of stable BCC/FCC solid‐solution phases, resulting in enhanced mechanical properties. A unique Si‐rich solid‐solution phase is observed, which did not
