Extra-articular synovial chondromatosis in a prepatellar bursa

European Journal of Radiology Extra, 2007
Abstract We report a case of an extremely rare form of a localized extra-articular synovial chondromatosis in a prepatellar bursa. Synovial chondromatosis (SC) is an uncommon and benign disease of the synovium characterized by formation of multiple loose bodies, most of which subsequently become calcified and/or ossified.

The synovial structure of breast-implant-associated bursae.

Modern pathology : an official journal of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, Inc, 1995
Over 2 million silicone breast prostheses have been implanted since they were introduced in the 1960s. After implantation, a fibrovascular tissue reaction referred to as a "capsule" is observed. Many consider this capsule to be a static structure, an effective barrier to the egress of foreign material.
