Reef fish assemblages impacted by sponges overgrowing corals

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Numerous stressors are driving long‐term declines in coral cover on coral reefs, significantly impacting reef fish biodiversity and community structure. The benthic space made available by declining coral cover is often occupied by increases in other organisms, including macroalgae, encrusting ascidians, and sponges.

Characterization of Harderian Gland‐Derived Plasma Cells in Chicken

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 6, June 2026.
An isolation protocol for plasma cells (PC) from the chicken Harderian gland (HG) was established, and analyses of PCs revealed a FSChigh/CD45med/sIgpos/CD57pos/CXCR4high/TACIlow phenotype. Presence of CXCL12 and BAFF around HG PCs suggests a contribution of CXCL12–CXCR4 and BAFF–TACI to PC localization and survival.

Modulation of Biofunctional and Structural Properties in Stevia‐Sweetened Ice Cream by Lactic Fermentation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study investigated the viability of probiotic Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis and Lactobacillus gasseri in a dietetic ice cream matrix. Overall, the findings suggest that the stevia‐sweetened cocoa ice cream matrix can serve as a promising synbiotic frozen carrier for maintaining probiotic viability, while retaining acceptable functional ...
