Control of backward-facing step flow using DBD plasma actuator (Effect of frequency and duty ratio of burst modulation)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
This study investigates the flow control of backward-facing step flow by a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuator. The DBD plasma actuator is mounted onto the edge of the backward-facing step, and is driven by burst modulation.

Estimation of Rock Burst Grades Using Rock Mass Strength

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The traditional rock burst estimation method is usually based on the σc (rock strength) in practice, while the actual occurrence of rock burst depends more on the structure and strength of the rock mass. In this work, the actual rock bursts occurred in a

Loss Clustering at MSP Buffer

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks
Packet losses cause a decline in the performance of packet networks, and this decline is related not only to the percentage of losses but also to the clustering of them together in series.

Burst Suppression Segmentation of EEG Using Adaptive Binarization in Time and Frequency Domains

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes a method for burst suppression segmentation using adaptive EEG binarization in both time and frequency domains. Since the dynamic range of EEG amplitude is very wide and can vary from one recording to another owing to the physical ...

On the Nature of the Strong Emission-Line Galaxies in Cluster Cl 0024+1654: Are Some the Progenitors of Low Mass Spheroidals? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present new size, line ratio, and velocity width measurements for six strong emission-line galaxies in the galaxy cluster, Cl 0024+1654, at redshift z~0.4.

Plasma propofol concentration and EEG burst suppression ratio during normothermic cardiopulmonary bypass † [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 2003
During cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), several factors affect drug disposition and action. This topic has not been studied extensively during normothermic CPB. In this study, we related propofol dose to plasma propofol concentration and burst suppression of the EEG during normothermic bypass. After institutional approval and informed consent, 45 patients ...

Quantifying seizure termination patterns reveals limited pathways to seizure end

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2022
Objective: Despite their possible importance in the design of novel neuromodulatory approaches and in understanding status epilepticus, the dynamics and mechanisms of seizure termination are not well studied.

Upper-Bound Performance of a Wide-Band Adaptive Modem

open access: yes, 1999
Adaptive modulation is applied in conjunction with a decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) in order to mitigate the effects of the slowly varying wide-band multipath Rayleigh fading channel in a noise-limited environment.

An experimental investigation of drop deformation and breakup in steady, two-dimensional linear flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
We consider the deformation and burst of small fluid droplets in steady linear, two-dimensional motions of a second immiscible fluid. Experiments using a computer-controlled, four-roll mill to investigate the effect of flow type are described, and the ...

Periodic Thermonuclear X-ray Bursts from GS 1826-24 and the Fuel Composition as a Function of Accretion Rate

open access: yes, 2003
We analyze 24 type I X-ray bursts from GS 1826-24 observed by the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer between 1997 November and 2002 July. The bursts observed between 1997-98 were consistent with a stable recurrence time of 5.74 +/- 0.13 hr.
