MODELING THE MODULATION OF NEURONAL BURSTING

open access: yes, 2014
peer reviewedExploiting the specific structure of neuron conductance-based models, the paper investigates the mathematical modeling of neuronal bursting modulation. The proposed approach combines singularity theory and geometric singular perturbations to

Scalable Fabrication of Chemically Stabilized Gelatin Hydrogel Fibers by Thermal Drawing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Scalable processing of hydrogel fibers remains a major challenge. By coupling thermal drawing with Maillard chemistry, a transient viscous‐flow window is created that enables continuous fabrication of microstructured gelatin fibers tens of meters long, while continued in situ crosslinking during drawing stabilizes the fibers for physiological ...

Practical adaptive hybrids with no bursting.

open access: yes, 1993
In this thesis, the bursting phenomenon in echo cancellation of telephone system is investigated. Bursting is characterized as long periods of successful echo attenuation alternating with short periods of wildly oscillating signals. The objective of this

A Critical Review on the Evolution of Chitosan‐Based Injectable Hydrogels in Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The graphical illustration depicts hydrogel formulation using chitosan and biocompatible cross‐linkers, major advantages, and incorporation of cells, osteoinductive factors, and therapeutic drugs. Following injection, pH‐responsive gelation enables controlled drug release, promotes cell recruitment and osteogenic differentiation, enhances extracellular

Synchronization of Bursting Pulse-Coupled Neurons in a Simulation Modeling Environment

open access: yesMathematics
Bursting is a special dynamic mode of neurons that consists of several consecutive spikes separated by a period of quiescence. This paper considers the synchronization of two non-identical neurons capable of both spiking and bursting behavior connected ...

The bursting duration in slices depends on synaptic AMPA receptors.

open access: yes, 2015
(A) CNQX (1 μM) eliminated the bursting reverberation. (B) Bursting duration at 0, 5, and 35 s before and after CNQX application. (*P < 0.05, compared with 0 s, Student’s paired t-test). Ratio of bursting duration at 5 s before and after CNQX application

Biodegradable and Edible Milli‐Fluidic Logic Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fully biodegradable and edible fluidic circuits are developed using gelatin‐based valves that operate at low pressure. Logic gates, a one‐bit memory, and a ring oscillator are demonstrated, showing that biodegradable materials can perform computation and control.
