Oxidative Stress and DNA Epigenetic Modifications in Cancer: Mechanisms and Targeted Therapeutics

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) modulate DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), ten‐eleven translocation family proteins (TETs) and their cofactors, reshaping 5‐methylcytosine (5mC)/5‐hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC)/5‐formylcytosine (5fC) landscapes and gene expression in cancer cells. In turn, epigenetic control of antioxidant and metabolic pathways feeds back on

Zinc‐Coordination‐Driven Pyroptosis Nano‐Inductor Sensitizes Colorectal Cancer Chemo‐Immunotherapy by Specific Delivery and Cell Stemness Suppression

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
CD44‐targeted CNPs co‐deliver Zn2+ and MIT–ALA to CRC cells. Intracellularly, Zn2+ inhibits GLUT1‐dependent glycolysis, and ALA disrupts mitochondrial function, driving metabolic exhaustion in CSCs. This mitochondrial damage primes GSDMD‐mediated pyroptosis, accompanied by the release of pro‐inflammatory cytokines (IL‑1β, IL‑18).

Hazard, risk and responsibility in the current regulation of biotechnology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Recent events have shown that the release of genetically modified crops and their use as food is increasingly controversial. The confusion over the issues involved displayed by the public, the media and governments across Europe is symptomatic of ...

Functionally related internal fluctuations in human ileal bile acid‐binding protein by high pressure nuclear magnetic resonance

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Hidden protein states with partially unfolded regions can have a functional relevance and may also contribute to an uncontrolled self‐association of proteins leading to pathological conditions. Human ileal bile acid‐binding protein (hI‐BABP), a member of the family of intracellular lipid‐binding proteins (iLBPs), plays a key role in the ...

Dopamine neurons in the ventral tegmental area fire faster in adolescent rats than in adults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Adolescence may be a period of vulnerability to drug addiction. In rats, elevated firing activity of ventral tegmental area (VTA) dopamine neurons predicts enhanced addiction liability.

Who Makes the Far Right? Exploring Membership Application Data of the National Front of Australia

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Politics &History, Volume 72, Issue 2, Page 291-314, June 2026.
This paper addresses a problem for scholars examining the question of who supports far right political parties or movements. Due to the semi‐clandestine or oppositional nature of far right groups, historians, as well as those in adjacent disciplines, have often been unable to gain access to sufficient records or data to conduct analysis of who supports

When Is a Wrong Answer Right?: Mediating Indigenous Language Revitalization at Taiwan Indigenous Television

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 128, Issue 2, Page 259-271, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This article follows producers of Kai Language Heroes, the first Indigenous language game show in the world, as they adapted the genre for language revitalization. Kai Language Heroes is one of many original programs at Taiwan Indigenous Television (TITV), a public broadcaster that serves Taiwan's diverse Austronesian‐speaking peoples. I argue

‘It's Like a Horror Movie That You Walk Through’: Experiencing Horror Through Immersive Recreation

open access: yesThe Journal of American Culture, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 121-130, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Horror stories have provided enjoyable forms of leisure for centuries. Over the past five decades, however, these experiences have evolved into increasingly immersive forms of popular culture. What once involved constructing the narrative world internally through reading has expanded into sensory engagement through visual and auditory media ...
