The Serotonin 2B (5‐HT2B) Receptor: A Narrative Review of Preclinical and Clinical Evidence on the Safety Considerations and Therapeutic Potential for the Treatment of Depression

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Major depressive disorder (MDD) and treatment‐resistant depression (TRD) remain leading causes of disability, providing the impetus for receptor‐level treatment strategies beyond monoamine reuptake. The serotonin 5‐HT2B receptor (5‐HT2BR) is uniquely positioned at the interface of central‐antidepressant mechanisms and peripheral cardiac risks.

Experimental Investigation on the Influence of Temperature on Coal and Gas Outbursts

open access: yes, 2023
With the increasing mining depth, the dynamic disaster of coal and gas outbursts in coal mines has become increasingly prominent, and the bursting liability of coal and rock mass in deep coal seam mining is a necessary condition for the occurrence of ...

The hyperpolarization‐activated cyclic nucleotide‐gated 4 channel as a potential anti‐seizure drug target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background and Purpose Hyperpolarization‐activated cyclic nucleotide‐gated (HCN) channels are encoded by four genes (HCN1–4) with distinct biophysical properties and functions within the brain.

Reduced occurrence of alpha waves during resting state predicts high attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder traits in young adults

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition with significant cognitive and social impacts. Identifying reliable biomarkers for ADHD is crucial for developing personalised therapies. Electroencephalography (EEG) alpha oscillations (8–12 Hz) have been suggested as a potential biomarker, but ...

Classification criteria for coal bursting liability based on scratch testing

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
The bursting liability is an inherent property of coal-rock masses prone to impact failure, serving as an intrinsic factor for coal mines to induce rockburst accidents and a critical indicator for assessing the risk of rockburst. However, the traditional

Incorporation of Natural Antimicrobial Agents Into Thermoplastic Polymers for Food Applications: Strategies, Efficacy, Challenges and Future Directions

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract summarizes the main strategies for incorporating natural antimicrobial agents into thermoplastic food packaging polymers, including melt processing, surface deposition, controlled release and chemical immobilization. It highlights the major classes of natural antimicrobials, key advantages such as microbial growth reduction and ...

Peptide‐directed nanovehicles enabling tumor‐selective ROS amplification and antitumor immunity

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cancer cells are vulnerable to oxidative stress, yet exploit immune tolerance to escape destruction. In contrast, their metabolic profile is markedly altered to support rapid proliferation, accompanied by elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Experimental study on the evolution patterns of bursting liability of hard and brittle sandstone under microwave thermal shock

open access: yes矿业科学学报
Rock burst is a major disaster in deep mining, where bursting liability is an important indicator of rock burst risk. This study therefore intends to explore the impact of microwave thermal shock on rocks with strong bursting liability by testing the ...

Home foreclosure discounts in auctions without reserve prices

open access: yesReal Estate Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This article estimates foreclosure discounts in Cape Town, South Africa, where, until 2019, foreclosure auctions occurred without reserve prices. Using newly constructed data linking sheriff auction notices to the universe of property transactions, rich property characteristics, and municipal service‐request records, I document large ...

Illiquidity and All Its Friends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The recent crisis was characterized by massive illiquidity. This paper reviews what we know and don't know about illiquidity and all its friends: market freezes, fire sales, contagion, and ultimately insolvencies and bailouts.
