Threatened cockatoo adapts foraging strategy to survive habitat loss from fire
Fire regimes are changing across the globe as a result of human‐induced climate change. For granivorous bird species, changes in fire regimes can affect seed availability and the persistence of populations. We investigated the foraging behaviour of Glossy Black Cockatoos Calyptorhynchus lathami halmaturinus, a resource specialist, following large‐scale

Modeling Vorticity-Driven Wildfire Behavior Using Near-Field Techniques
Dynamic modes of fire propagation present a significant challenge for operational fire spread simulation. Current two-dimensional operational fire simulation platforms are not generally able to account for the complex interactions that drive such ...

Fire authorities and planners : reducing risk across diverse landscapes
Bushfire risk mitigation measures have become increasingly integrated into the responsibilities held by planning professionals, and this is indicative of a broader trend of emergency management responsibilities being formally adopted by other sectors ...

Abstract This study examined inter‐community‐based variations in spirometry parameters in 243 Aboriginal patients aged >18 years from 14 individual remote communities (61% female, with a median age of 54.6 years). Mixed ventilatory impairment was the most common pattern (51.6%), followed by restrictive (32.4%) and obstructive (9.8%).

Bushfire responsive design : real life responses to energy ratings, bushfire standards and biodiverse sites. [PDF]
Many of the more extreme bushfire prone landscapes in Australia are located in colder climate regions. For such sites, the National Construction Code regulates that houses satisfy both the Australian Standard for Bushfire (AS 3959:2009) and achieve a 6 ...
