Budding enrollment: The impact of cannabis policy on US colleges and universities
Abstract We examine how liberalized recreational marijuana laws have affected freshmen enrollment and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) major choice using difference‐in‐differences and event study models. Estimates indicate near‐zero initial enrollment growth as schools substituted between in‐state and out‐of‐state students.

Gender inequality in urban British Africa: Evidence from Anglican marriage registers
Abstract We examine the colonial origins and evolution of gender inequality in mission schooling and formal labour force participation across six cities in British colonial Africa, using marriage register data for some 30,000 Anglican brides and grooms well‐positioned to benefit from colonial educational and employment opportunities.

The Liquidity Sprint: Short‐Term Cash Needs and Access to Credit
ABSTRACT We identify the causal drivers of the COVID‐19 ‘dash‐for‐cash’ in Europe using a hand‐collected panel of Euro‐area firms (2018‐Q4–2020‐Q3).
