Bacillus sp. strain hys-1, which was isolated from active sludge, could degrade >90% butachlor at a concentration of 100 mg/L within 7 days. The present work revealed that strain hys-1 could mineralize butachlor via the following pathway: butachlor was initially metabolized to 2-chloro-N-(2,6-diethylphenyl)-N-methylacetamide by debutoxylation and then ...

Photodegradation of the Herbicides Butachlor and Ronstar Using Natural Sunlight and Diethylamine
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2000Deterioration of water quality by pesticide residues in rivers has raised environmental safety concerns. Butachlor and ronstar are the two most widely used herbicides in Taiwan. Due to their relatively high stability and retardation factors, butachlor and ronstar were persistent environmental pollutants in waters (Widmer and Spalding, 1995, 1996 ...

An Analytical Method for the Simultaneous Determination of Butachlor and Benoxacor in Wheat and Soil
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2005Butachlor is a chloroacetanilide herbicide successfully employed in weeding some important crops, and benoxacor is a safening compound able to induce the enzymatic mechanism of chloroacetanilide detoxification in plants. A practical method for a simultaneous detection of butachlor and benoxacor residues in wheat and in soil is described.

Butachlor-induced acute toxic hepatitis.
Indian journal of gastroenterology : official journal of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, 2007Butachlor is a highly effective herbicidal substance widely used by farmers. We report a 60-year-old man with exfoliative dermatitis, jaundice, increase in liver enzymes and eosinophilia one day after accidental dermal exposure to butachlor toxin. The diagnostic workup showed no other cause and liver histology was consistent with substance-induced ...

Biodegradation of acetanilide herbicides acetochlor and butachlor in soil.
Journal of environmental sciences (China), 2003The biodegradation of two acetanilide herbicides, acetochlor and butachlor in soil after other environmental organic matter addition were measured during 35 days laboratory incubations. The herbicides were applied to soil alone, soil-SDBS (sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate) mixtures and soil-HA (humic acid) mixtures.

Toxicity of Butachlor on Juveniles of Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822).
International Journal of Emerging Multidisciplinaries: Biomedical and Clinical ResearchClarias gariepinus is an important valued fish widely culture and occur naturally in freshwater. Herbicides produce cumulative deleterious effects thereby reducing the survival and growth of fish. The acute and sub-lethal toxicity of the Butachlor on Catfish were investigated.
