Visceral gout is reported for the first time in a rough legged hawk (Buteo lagopus). Urate crystals were present on the pericardium, thoracic and abdominal air sacs, and the ventral surface of the liver. The liver and spleen also had urate crystals throughout the parenchyma. Sex role partitioning during offspring protection in the Rough‐legged Buzzard Buteo lagopus

Nest defence and sex role partitioning during offspring protection were examined in tests with a human territory intruder as well as a dummy. Five defence responses including warning calls were identified. Except for the warning call, males were more aggressive than females.
