Salt Intake Among the Iranian Population and Public Attitudes Toward Salt Consumption: National and Subnational Report From STEPS 2021

In 2021, Iranian adults consumed an average of 9.71 g of salt per day, nearly double the WHO‐recommended limit, with 98% exceeding 5 g/day. Intake was higher among men, rural residents, and obese individuals, and was strongly linked to unhealthy behaviors such as adding salt during cooking or meals.
