Effect of Nanosilica Aggregates/Agglomerates on Functional Properties of Poly(Butylene 2,5‐Furandicarboxylate)‐Based Nanocomposites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Effect of nanosilica aggregates/agglomerates on oxygen and water vapor diffusivity of PBF/SiO2 nanocomposites. ABSTRACT The nanofillers inclusions in poly(butylene 2,5‐furandicarboxylate) (PBF)/SiO2 nanocomposites were found to consist of aggregates and agglomerates of nanosilica particles.

Effect of Crystal Polymorphism on Elastic Modulus and Hardness of Poly(Butylene 2,6‐Naphthalate) (PBN)

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
The research provides insight into the mechanical behavior of the high‐performance polyester Poly(Butylene 2,6‐Naphthalate) containing different crystal polymorphs, adjustable by the conditions of melt‐crystallization. ABSTRACT The modulus of elasticity and hardness of poly(butylene 2,6‐naphthalate) (PBN) were investigated at different length scales ...

Adsorption of Fibrinogen and Fibronectin on Elastomeric Poly(butylene Succinate) Copolyesters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Proteins adsorbed onto biomaterial surfaces facilitate cell-material interactions, including adhesion and migration. Of particular importance are provisional matrix components, fibrinogen (Fg) and fibronectin (Fn), which play an important role in the ...

Unsaturated biobased polyesters from bicyclic α‐pinene‐based diols

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
We present the synthesis of four biosourced unsaturated polyesters made from chiral terpene‐based diols and esters of renewable diacids. The resulting materials harbor a bicyclic pinene ring in their backbones which leads to enhanced thermal properties while still conferring susceptibility to enzyme hydrolysis for chains having a cis alkene.

Antibacterial and antifungal properties of propylene glycol, hexylene glycol, and 1,3-butylene glycol in vitro.

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 1991
The antimicrobial properties of three glycols, - propylene glycol, hexylene glycol, and 1,3-butylene glycol - against Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes A, Streptococcus mitis, and E. coli were studied in vitro. Within 20 h, 10% and 30% hexylene glycol in fresh tryptic soy broth were able to kill

The Soret effect of mono-, di- and tri-glycols in ethanol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We employed thermal diffusion forced Rayleigh scattering (TDFRS) to investigate the chain length dependence of the thermal diffusion behavior of short glycols in ethanol.

Glycols in the Synthesis of Zinc-Anilato Coordination Polymers

open access: yes, 2022
We report the synthesis, structural investigation, and thermal behavior for three zinc-based 1D-coordination polymers with 3,6-di-tert-butyl-2,5-dihydroxy-p-benzoquinone, which were synthesized in the presence of different glycols.
