Electromagnetic Scattering by Periodic Structures
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2004The paper considers the existence and uniqueness problem for the stationary scattering of electromagnetic waves (diffraction) on a structure which is localized in the propagation direction of the wave, and is periodic in two other directions, taking piece-wise constant values (this corresponds to the usual structure of diffraction gratings).

Testing treatment‐by‐period interaction in four‐period crossover trials
Pharmaceutical Statistics, 2019Statistical analyses of crossover clinical trials have mainly focused on assessing the treatment effect, carryover effect, and period effect. When a treatment‐by‐period interaction is plausible, it is important to test such interaction first before making inferences on differences among individual treatments.

FAMILY PLANNING BY PERIODIC ABSTINENCE
Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1975The following issues concerning the physiological basis for family planning by periodic abstinence are discussed; the recognition of post- and preovulatory infertile periods by temperature records the postpartum period double ovulation sexually stimulated ovulation delayed fertilization rhythmicity of sexual desire psychological aspects of periodic ...

Periodic Solutions by Picard's Approximations
Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1968In [1] Demidovic considered a system of linear differential equationswith A(t) continuous, T-periodic, odd, and skew symmetric. He proved that all solutions of (1) are either T-periodic or 2T-periodic0 In [2] Epstein used Floquet theory to prove that all solutions of (1) are T-periodic without the skew symmetric hypothesis.

Silent period induced by cutaneous stimulation
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology/Evoked Potentials Section, 1991An electrical stimulus applied to a cutaneous nerve during isometric muscle contraction causes a suppression of EMG activity (silent period) followed by a rebound. The extent of inhibition is related to the stimulus intensity as the silent period is more evident when stimulation is perceived as painful.

Eating Epilepsy Characterized by Periodic Spasms
Neuropediatrics, 2003Seizures induced by eating are generally considered rare. Eating epilepsy is a kind of reflex epilepsy. We report two patients aged 11 and 16, with seizures provoked by eating. The eating-provoked seizures in both patients were a series of tonic spasms. Both ictal EEGs showed a periodic pattern characterized by diffuse high voltage slow wave.

Scattering by periodic surfaces
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1982If Ω⊆ Rν (ν?2) is an exterior domain containing a half-space and contained in a half space, we prove that the wave operators W± = s-limt→±∞ exp(itH) Jexp(−itH0) are partial isometries and that the invariance principle W±(φ) = W± holds for suitable real functions φ on R (’’admissible’’ functions). Here H0 is the negative (distributional) Laplacian in L2(

Reflex periodic spasms induced by eating
Brain and Development, 2006We report on two patients with reflex periodic spasms (PS) triggered by eating. Both patients also had significant cognitive and motor deficits. In both patients, reflex eating PS started during meal and occurred repeatedly at intervals of about 5-30 s, and the whole episode lasted about 10-15 min with 15-20 consecutive PS.
