Experimental evaluation and numerical simulation of performance of the bypass dual throat nozzle
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2020Bypass dual throat nozzle (BDTN) is a modern concept of fluidic thrust vector control. This method able to solve the problem of thrust loss without need the secondary mass flow from other part of engine. Internal nozzle performance and thrust vector angles have been measured in the BDTN experimentally and numerically. A new simple approach is proposed

Dynamic Experimental Investigations of a Bypass Dual Throat Nozzle
Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 2015The bypass dual throat nozzle (BDTN) does not consume any secondary injection from the other part of the engine, while it can produce steady and efficient vectoring deflection similar to the conventional dual throat nozzle (DTN). A BDTN model has been designed and subjected to dynamic experimental study.

A fluidic thrust vector control using the bypass flow in a dual throat nozzle
Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2021The present study is to explore an active mass flow control technology for an emerging bypass dual throat nozzle. A new arc-shaped bypass system has been applied to replace the previous V-shaped bypass for the bypass dual throat nozzle, which can decrease the total pressure loss significantly.

Bypass dual throat nozzles (BDTN) was first proposed in the 1990s as means to enable more effective and efficient control of combat aircraft, but real-world implementation has not yet been demonstrated. In an attempt to mitigate this gap, this study provides an extensive experimental investigation through conducting simultaneous pressure measurements ...

Performance study of bypass dual throat nozzle based on numerical simulation
International Journal of Turbo & Jet-EnginesAbstract This study investigates the aerodynamic performance of elliptical cross-section bypass double-throat nozzles (BDTNs) with varying short-to-long axis ratios (b/a = 1.0, 0.8, 0.6, 0.4), using an axisymmetric BDTN as a reference.
