Fast Byzantine Consensus

We present the first consensus protocol that reaches asynchronous Byzantine consensus in two communication steps in the common case. We prove that our protocol is optimal in terms of both number of communication step, and number of processes for 2-step consensus.

Byzantine clock synchronization

An informal description is given of three fault-tolerant clock-synchronization algorithms. These algorithms work in the presence of arbitrary kinds of failure, including "two-faced" clocks. Two of the algorithms are derived from Byzantine Generals solutions.
