Q‐switched thulium‐doped fibre laser operating at 1900 nm using multi‐walled carbon nanotubes saturable absorber

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2014, Issue 6, Page 297-301, June 2014., 2014
Simple, low‐cost and stable passive Q‐switched thulium‐doped fibre lasers (TDFLs) operating at 1892.4 and 1910.8 nm are demonstrated using 802 and 1552 nm pumping schemes, respectively, in conjunction with a multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) saturable absorber (SA).

Performance evaluation of synchronization algorithms in lightweight thread environments in C++

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики
Traditionally, multithreaded data structures have been designed and tested for use with Operating System (OS) threads. However, in recent years, programming languages have introduced an alternative — lightweight threads (also known as asynchronous calls ...

A blueprint for blue carbon: toward an improved understanding of the role of vegetated coastal habitats in sequestering CO2

open access: yes, 2011
Recent research has highlighted the valuable role that coastal and marine ecosystems play in sequestering carbon dioxide (CO(2)). The carbon (C) sequestered in vegetated coastal ecosystems, specifically mangrove forests, seagrass beds, and salt marshes ...

The third dimension: How fire-related research can advance ecology and evolutionary biology

open access: yesIdeas in Ecology and Evolution, 2020
Most of the Earth’s vegetated surface is fireprone but the relevance of fire in understanding how nature works is not always recognized. We aim to show that, by adding the fire dimension to observations on biological phenomena, interpretations can be im ...

Using Multi-Sense Vector Embeddings for Reverse Dictionaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Popular word embedding methods such as word2vec and GloVe assign a single vector representation to each word, even if a word has multiple distinct meanings. Multi-sense embeddings instead provide different vectors for each sense of a word.

Selectivity of interaction of spin-labelled lipids with peripheral proteins bound to dimyristoylphosphatidylglycerol bilayers, as determined by ESR spectroscopy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The selectivity of interaction between spin-labelled lipids and the peripheral proteins, apocytochrome c, cytochrome c, lysozyme and polylysine has been studied using ESR spectroscopy. Derivatives of phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE)

Apocytochrome c [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The cytochrome c import pathway differs markedly from the general route taken by the majority of other imported proteins, which is characterized by the import involvement of namely, surface receptors, the general insertion protein (GIP), contact sites ...

Propagation of High-Frequency Electromagnetic Waves Through a Magnetized Plasma in Curved Spaces-Time. II. Application of the Asymptotic Approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
This is the second of two papers on the propagation of high-frequency electromagnetic waves through an inhomogeneous, non-stationary plasma in curved space-time. By applying the general two-scale W.K.B.

Sudden cardiac death in young athletes: Literature review of molecular basis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Intense athletic training and competition can rarely result in sudden cardiac death (SCD). Despite the introduction of pre-participation cardiovascular screening, especially among young competitive athletes, sport-related SCD remains a debated issue ...
