Smart detection of juice adulteration: An approach based on ion mobility spectrometry and machine learning

Abstract BACKGROUND Fruit juice quality is regulated by European Union legislation; however, adulteration by adding cheaper alternatives, such as white grape juice, remains a prevalent issue. This practice constitutes economic fraud and poses health risks to consumers, including potential allergic reactions to the adulterant.

Mean‐Variance Payoff Applied to Stackelberg Games

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We analyse a Stackelberg duopoly in which the leader faces uncertainty about the intercept demand, while the follower observes the realised demand and decides whether to enter the market after the uncertainty is resolved. The leader evaluates the uncertainty by maximising a mean‐variance utility function that captures its risk aversion.

On the botanical history and nomenclature of the New World genus Piscidia (Fabaceae)

Piscidia L. (Fabaceae) is a New World genus with nine recognized taxa (seven species and two varieties). The previous nomenclatural revisions, made in 1910 and in 1969, are revisited here. The names Derris grandifolia Heyde & Lux ex Donn.Sm. and P. cubensis Urb. required step II lectotypifications, with an epitype for the latter name.
